OUR TEAM
Meet the staff of Gracepoint Santa Barbara! In 2014, a team moved from the Bay Area with a vision of starting an Acts 2 church here in Santa Barbara. For many of us, college was a transformative time. Jesus’ all-consuming call grabbed ahold of our hearts as we experienced the power of God’s word and the richness of a biblical community.
It’s an experience we want to pass on to others so we plant churches in college towns like Santa Barbara and encourage every one of our members to live lives of loving, sacrificial ministry. Some of us here now are even UCSB alumni serving our campus and trying to love the SB community!
SANTA BARARA LEADERSHIP

Like Jeremy Lin, I grew up the son of Taiwanese immigrants. My life goal was to please my parents and be the sort of son that they’d be proud to talk about. Making the NBA wasn’t quite within reach for me, so I pursued my goal by studying hard, playing piano, and being an outwardly compliant teenager. In college, I encountered the gospel in a fresh way, repented for my sins, and committed my life to serving God and pleasing him.
Since graduating, I’ve worked as a lab research associate, a computer programmer, and a patent attorney. By night I was a bi-vocational minister at UC Berkeley. In 2015, my wife Carol and I went into full-time ministry, and since then our family has been on the move, planting churches at UC Santa Cruz in 2015, Carnegie Mellon in 2017, and now sunny Santa Barbara, reaching out to students at UCSB and Westmont College!

Growing up, Christianity was mostly academic to me - learning Bible stories and memorizing verses. I didn’t see much of a point to life and lived life vicariously through Korean dramas & K-pop instead. But all of that changed the first week I came to the UC Berkeley campus. I met people who took God’s word seriously. I had to wrestle with my old notions about Christianity, and start over, agreeing with Him that I am a sinner in need of the Savior.
So, as a sophomore, I decided to follow Jesus and it's been a journey since then. I serve alongside my husband, Jon, and we have two boys – Stephen & Michael. We’ve known each other since freshman year of college, got married a few years after we graduated, and have served together ever since!
